Pope’s decision causes surprise; Parishioners share their thoughts on Benedict’s legacy



The decision by Pope Benedict XVI to resign effective Feb. 28 caught many Roman Catholics by surprise.

Dave Geis, president of the parish council at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour, was one of those taken aback by the 85-year-old pontiff’s decision.

“I think he has been a good leader for the Catholic Church worldwide,” Geis said.
