Two areas in northwest Jackson County will be set afire this winter.
The fires are part of prescribed burns planned by the Hoosier National Forest staff to help wildlife.
Some areas are burned to improve oak and hickory growth, and others are burned to increase native grasses and keep the areas open for wildlife, forest
management officer Terry Severson said.
