Private collection on display at art gallery

The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts is featuring a private collection of paintings by Harvard Brunning in the main gallery during February.

Brunning (1902-1961) was from Columbus and studied with artist and composer T.J. Koch. Koch was a student of T.C. Steele and taught Brunning to paint in the southern Indiana impressionist style that Steele developed in Brown County.

Brunning painted portraits and landscapes with pastels, oil and watercolor and eventually developed a style of his own.
