A recent decision by the Insurance Service Office to improve Seymour’s rating for fire protection from a four to a three may have a slight effect on the cost of insurance premiums for residential property owners.

But a local insurance agent said it points to something even bigger than money.

“It’s definitely a feather in the cap of the fire department,” said John Beatty with Beatty Insurance in Seymour.
