Jackson County will have the opportunity to welcome home royalty as Indiana State Fair Queen Mariah Huff comes back to town Friday.

A caravan will gather in the parking lot of the Jackson County Jail at 6 p.m. Friday and travel from Brownstown through Seymour and Crothersville before returning to Brownstown for a reception at W.R. Ewing banquet hall  at 7:30 p.m.

The community is invited to the reception to meet and greet Huff until 9 p.m. The reception is free to the public.

“We’ve never had a state fair queen in Jackson County,” county fair pageant director Jeanette Hackman said. “We want the community to show support. It’s quite an honor.”

Hackman said the title benefits Jackson County as much as it does Huff.

“It brings Jackson County out,” Hackman said.

Huff participated in the pageant at the state fair after being named Jackson County Fair Queen at this year’s county fair.

Huff competed against 86 young women from around the state to become the 55th Indiana State Fair queen.

Huff, 20, is a junior, studying agriculture education at Purdue University. She is a graduate of Brownstown Central High School.
