Rags suspected as cause of fire

A report of a possible arson fire Tuesday morning at a house on Seymour’s south side proved unfounded, police said.

The fire, which damaged the soffit in the eave on the front of the home at 252 Taggart Drive, was discovered by Sgt. Jack Swindell as he was patrolling at 6:22 a.m. Tuesday.

Swindell told dispatchers that flames were going up the front of the house, which is in the process of being remodeled.
