A brief but strong rain dumped 1.08 inches of rain across Seymour on Wednesday afternoon.

The rain came too fast for drains to handle it, Mayor Craig Luedeman said, responding to several reports of flooded intersections.

Those reports included high water at Ash and O'Brien streets, Fourth and Broadway streets and along Stadium Drive.

"We have workers out now unclogging drains and we'll be checking on a couple of places, including at Fourth and Broadway," Luedeman said.

That area was part of work area where new storm drains were installed this summer.
