Bill Everhart expected a negative reaction from the public when he made the decision to change the hours for drop-off recycling at the Seymour Department of Public Works.

The facility, located near the National Guard Armory in Freeman Field, will have set hours instead of being open all day, every day for people to drop off aluminum and steel cans, plastic milk jugs and old newspapers for recycling.

Beginning Jan. 1, recyclables will be accepted only from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

The center will be closed Sundays.
