Jackson County’s chapter of the American Red Cross along with other chapters served through the American Red Cross’ Columbus office recently began a three-month fundraising campaign.
The “Heroes for the American Red Cross” campaign is designed to raise funds to provide food, clothing, shelter, cribs and more to individuals and families after local disasters such as fires and floods.
The grass-roots campaign involves local people, school groups, church groups, civic clubs and individuals
pledging to try and raise $1,000, through any legal means they choose, for local Red Cross chapters. The goal of this year’s campaign is $40,000.
The funds will be used to support Red Cross services such as disaster relief assistance for fire victims, emergency military communications, first aid and CPR training and disaster preparedness information for the community.
All money raised will support relief efforts in Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings and Scott counties.
Donation cans have been distributed in the community, or people can send donations to the local chapter offices at 931 Repp Drive, Columbus IN 47201, or 113 N. Chestnut St., Seymour IN 47274.
