At halftime of Friday’s Hoosier Hills Conference boys basketball game, Seymour only trailed Class 4A No. 12 Jeffersonville by nine points.
But in the third quarter, Jeffersonville put together a couple of short runs before closing on a 10-0 run for a 53-29 advantage. The Red Devils held the host Owls to only 15 second-half points in winning 70-36.
“I thought our execution was very, very good, and we knew we were going to have to do certain things against them to keep the ballgame where we needed to,” Owls coach Kyle Clough said. “I thought we did that for three quarters of the game against a team that was in the (semistate) last year.
