Report: County’s well-being on rise in statewide rankings

Local residents Michelle Bullard and Erin Hays both made the conscious decision to improve their health.

Apparently they weren’t alone, health officials and professionals say in explaining Jackson County’s improvement in an annual health ranking of Hoosier counties.

Bullard quit smoking cigarettes after 25 years of lighting up, and Hays trimmed his weight, dropping from 305 pounds in 2011 to about 235 pounds this year.
