Report of naked man on four-wheeler ends in chase, arrest

A man’s attempt to evade police while reportedly riding a four-wheeler naked Sunday came to an end with his capture and arrest in a parking lot in North Vernon.

The incident that led to the arrest of Vyran L. Phillips, 53, of North Vernon, began at 8:18 p.m. Sunday when police were sent to the area of Oak Meadow Drive and Edgewood Avenue on the city’s west side to look for a naked male riding on a four-wheeler.

Officers arriving at the scene reported the man and the four-wheeler could not be found, but they did find tracks from a four-wheeler in the grass and traced them to the area of Johnson Street, police said.
