Retirement opens door for House District 69 seat

Two Seymour residents are campaigning this fall to succeed retiring District 69 State Rep. David Cheatham of North Vernon next year.

Democrat Jim McCormick, who narrowly defeated Trent Wisner of North Vernon in the May primary, is the retired principal of Seymour High School.

Republican Jim Lucas, who owns The Awning Guy Inc., currently has an at-large seat on the Seymour Common Council.

The recently redrawn district includes most of Jennings County, one township in Bartholomew County, five townships in Jackson County and four in Jefferson County.
