Heavy rains Friday and Saturday — on top of ground already saturated by snow melt — forced the East Fork of the White River to rise rapidly above it’s bank Sunday in Jackson County.
The rising floodwaters, however, appear to be creating few issues for motorists — yet.
On Sunday afternoon, the gauge at Rockford in the northern part of the county was nearing 17.5 feet on its way to a crest of 18.5 feet at 1 a.m. today, according to the National Weather Service. The river is expected to remain above flood stage at Rockford (12 feet) until sometime early Friday.
