A desire to improve their health and set a better example for their children prompted a rural Seymour couple to change their diet and exercise habits.
Chris Otte said the change nearly three years ago saved the life of his wife, Mandy, who was diagnosed with breast cancer after losing 50 pounds and 8 percent of her body fat.
The changes started out of a concern for their own health and a desire to be good examples for their daughter, Erin, now 11, and their niece, Alicia, now 18. Alicia was living with the family at the time.
