Schneck changes cut ER wait times

Schneck Medical Center is trying a different approach to help reduce wait times in its emergency department.

In response to patient surveys and input from staff, the Seymour hospital has started a process called split flow, in which patients are given the care they need as quickly as possible based on the severity of their illness or injury.

Kendra Zumhingst of Seymour said she experienced the split-flow process firsthand during a recent trip to the emergency room when her daughter cut her foot.
