Schneck Medical Center is operating on emergency power this morning after a power outage occurred at about 1:30 a.m.
Emergency patients arriving by ambulance are being sent to other hospitals in the area, according to a news release from the Seymour hospital.
Walk-in patients are being accepted at the emergency room along with women in labor, who need to go the Family Life Center.
The outage is not having an impact on inpatients.
All surgeries scheduled for today and many outpatient procedures have been cancelled along with all appointments at Schneck Orthopedic & Sports Medicine and Schneck Obstetrics & Gynecology. Outpatient appointments at the pain, infusion, cancer and rehablitation centers are not affected.
Hospital officials have been meeting every two hours to update staff about the situation.
No information about when power might be restored is available at this time.
