A second full-time police officer will be assigned to Seymour Community Schools.

It took little discussion Tuesday night for the school board to unanimously approve the measure as a way to step up school security across the district and help deter bullying, especially at the middle school.

Officer Billy Smith, a former DARE officer currently assigned to cover all schools, now will be stationed at Seymour Middle School and Officer Keith Williams will take over at Seymour High School.
