Schools closing early as snow approaches

Several area schools will dismiss students two hours early Friday because of approaching snow.

The National Weather Service reports Jackson County could receive 2 to 4 inches of snow starting this afternoon and continuing through the evening. The area is under a winter weather advisry through 8 p.m.

Schools that will dismiss early today include Brownstown, Jennings County and Medora.

Spokesman Harry Maginity of the Indiana Department of Transportation said salt and plow trucks treated state and federal roads with a brine solution to prepare for the storm.  Drivers will work from  facilities from across the Seymour District.
