Scoreboard operator honored for 50 years of service

For 50 years, Darrel Barnett has had the best seat in the house at basketball games in Seymour.

From the days in the Shields High School gymnasium to today at the Lloyd E. Scott Gymnasium at Seymour High School, Barnett has been nestled in between the two teams’ benches just a few feet from all of the action on the court operating the scoreboard.

At the recent boys basketball game against Austin, though, Barnett got a feeling that something was up.
