Scores' reliability questioned

Indiana Department of Education should scrap this week’s ISTEP+ results and evaluate how — and whether — to proceed with testing vendor CTB/McGraw Hill, two local education administrators said Thursday.

Problems with computers kicking out and locking out Hoosier children from their tests early this week place the results in question, Seymour Community Schools interim Superintendent Rob Hooker said.

“Credibility and reliability are real questions,” Hooker said. “I think they need to drop these scores this year and evaluate how to proceed. They’ve had these problems before and they’re not getting fixed.”

Crothersville Superintendent Terry Goodin shares those concerns.
