Playing his first season of basketball at Medora High School, senior Jarrett Fortner has tried to contribute any way he can.
“I play mostly because of my defense, and then I’m a ball-handler whenever Kirk (Stewart) is struggling or he’s tired or wore out,” Fortner said.
“When we play a man-to-man press full-court, I usually guard the ball-handler. We really don’t go for the steal. We just shadow them to kind of wear them out. We let them bring the ball up and give them difficulty.”
When the Hornets are on offense, Fortner said, “I would rather play against a zone so we can get our shooters open. In a man-to-man, I look to feed Roy (Edwards) down low. We really look to feed him all the time. (Bryce Cockerham) has really developed his inside game this year. He’s usually a shooter and overall scorer, but he’s been posting up a lot lately.”
