Early in his football career, Jon Lane spent time running the football.
These days, he plays a position where he guards the person running with the ball.
“I like pulling, being a lead blocker. It’s pretty fun,” the Brownstown Central senior said. “I like to hit people that are smaller than me on the outside.”
In fifth, seventh and eighth grades, Lane was a slot, and in sixth grade, he was a lineman. Once he got into high school, he spent his first couple of years at slot and fullback, and he said he started as a lineman in one game his freshman year.
As a junior, Lane played on both sides of the ball on the line, and he’s doing that again this year, serving as a guard on offense and an end on defense. He moved from defensive tackle to defensive end.
