Adam Wolka claimed an exciting 3-2 sudden-death victory in overtime to reach the finals of Saturday’s Hoosier Hills Conference wrestling tournament.

The Seymour senior then wrestled tough in the championship match of the 285-pound division. But Jeffersonville’s Gavan Jolley-Little broke a tie at 1:10 of the third period for a 3-1 lead, and all Wolka could manage from there was an escape for a 3-2 loss by decision.

“You hate to lose a close one in the finals, but (Jolley-Little) is a good kid, a solid kid. We’ll see him again in regional,” Owls coach Curt Schleibaum said. “We’ll be game-planning what we can do to get past there.”

In the first round, Wolka pinned Bedford North Lawrence’s Gabe Morales in 59 seconds.

Then in the second round, Wolka and Columbus East’s Rob McKee were tied at 1 through three periods. McKee recorded an escape in the first extra 30 seconds, and Wolka evened the score at 2 in the next 30. Wolka managed to get an escape as the buzzer sounded at the end of the next 30 seconds for the 3-2 win.
