Let the Oktoberfest fun begin

The 40th annual Seymour Oktoberfest kicks off its three-day run today.

But downtown streets bustled with activity Wednesday as organizers, vendors and volunteers spent the day setting up and preparing for the city’s biggest event.

“It’s a busy day for us,” Laverne East with Star Promenaders said Wednesday while helping other group members get their booth ready to open early today. “We’re gathering our supplies and getting everything ready to go.”

By everything, that means making sure the booth is cleaned, decorated and fully stocked and has electric and water service.
