Sewer workers getting raises

Seymour will add four stormwater employees and give some sewer workers pay raises this year in an effort to keep them from leaving for higher-paying jobs in other communities.

The city council gave final approval Monday to utilities director Randy Hamilton’s request to restructure the water pollution control facility’s staff to reflect the changes.

Hamilton said he has lost five employees, one-third of his workforce, over the past 21 months, including one last week, because the positions don’t pay enough and don’t offer any incentive to move up within the department.
