A mere three points separated Seymour in third place and Jennings County in fifth place going into the final event of Saturday’s Hoosier Hills Conference boys swimming and diving meet.
After the first swimmer of the 400 freestyle relay, Seymour was in fifth place. But the Owls slipped to sixth and remained there to finish the meet with 160 points, putting them in a tie for fourth with host Bedford North Lawrence. Jennings County placed third in the relay to finish third out of eight teams with 163 points.
“Bedford and (Columbus) East and Jennings all beat us in a dual meet, and our goal was to try to beat them all three today,” Owls coach Dave Boggs said. “We thought we might have a good shot at it. We knocked off one (East), we tied one and Jennings got us barely.”
