Seymour Community Schools Corp. named one of its own to fill the position of director of special education.
Trustees hired teacher Mika Ahlbrand to lead the special education program during a regular monthly board meeting Tuesday night.
The position became open after the resignation of Patsy Woods in September.
Ahlbrand, 32, is a Seymour High School graduate and has taught special needs students for Seymour schools for 10 years. Currently, she is a first-grade teacher at Seymour-Jackson Elementary School, a position the board will have to fill as her first day as director is Monday.
