Seymour diver places 31st at state

INDIANAPOLIS

In his final high school diving competition, Seymour senior Nick Hester placed 31st in Saturday’s state finals at the Indiana University Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.

In the morning preliminaries, Hester scored 126.90 points for 31st out of 32 divers. After those five dives, there was a 12-person cut. After three more dives, there was a four-person cut to determine the final 16.

LaPorte senior Joshua Arndt scored 484 points to capture his second straight state title.

Team-wise, Chesterton won four individual events and two relays and set three meet records in winning the swimming and diving state title with 238.5 points. It was the Trojans’ third state championship in six years.
