Ben Coomer didn’t let falling during the 300-meter hurdles race affect him as he headed to compete in pole vault.

The Seymour junior was the final pole-vault competitor in Tuesday’s 53rd annual Seymour Track and Field Boys Invitational, and he cleared 13 feet with a new pole for the win. Earlier in the meet, he improved in high jump by 4 inches and placed second at 6 feet.

For his efforts, he tied with Columbus East’s Jason Kimmet and Madison’s Wayne Sherbahn for Most Outstanding Performer honors.

Seymour led Columbus East 50-48 through seven events, but the Olympians jumped to an 80-58 edge over the host Owls through 10 events and held on for a 123-105 win in the six-team meet.
