Seymour firefighters get federal emergency management grant for masks

A $143,000 federal grant will allow the Seymour Fire Department to buy 24 new air packs at once.

“In the past, we would buy them when we purchased a new truck,” Fire Chief Brad Lucas said.

That means the department has a mixed assortment of air packs, also known as self-contained breathing apparatuses, with some that are nearly 20 years old.
