Holding onto a slim 15-13 lead through one quarter of play in Tuesday’s Hoosier Hills Conference opener, the Seymour girls basketball team pounded the boards and played solid defense.
The Owls had 10 offensive rebounds in the second quarter and had a 21-12 edge in that department by halftime. Their defense forced Floyd Central into six straight turnovers down the first-half stretch, and they led 35-26 at halftime.
The closest Floyd Central came in the second half was eight, and Seymour buckled down and pulled out the 60-51 win.
