LOUISVILLE, Ky.
Junior Kameron Chastain has been selected as one of the University of Louisville men’s swim team captains for the 2012-13 school year.
The team and coaches have input on the two seniors and one junior that are selected as captains. The senior captains chosen are Alex Burtch and Kevin Bandy.
Chastain, a 2010 graduate of Seymour High School, had a successful sophomore season, qualifying for the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row and competing in the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 50 freestyle. Chastain was the Big East Conference champion in the 100 breaststroke and helped the 200 medley relay team win, and he finished second in the 200 breaststroke and eighth in the 50 freestyle.
In the summer, Chastain competed in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events at the Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb.
He also made an impact as a freshman at Louisville after winning the 100 breaststroke race at state his senior year at SHS.
Chastain, the son of Brian and Andrea Chastain of Seymour, is an exercise science major at Louisville.
