BLOOMINGTON

The Seymour gymnastics team wasn’t expected to win Saturday’s Bloomington South Invitational, coach Angie Mellencamp said, but the girls came through and repeated as the champion.

The Owls scored 100.2 points for the win in the 10-team event. Owen Valley was second with 98.25.

Kelly Deppen won vault (9.1) and bars (9.475), placed second on floor (8.85) and fourth on beam (8.65) for a winning all-around score of 36.075. Alyssa Goen placed first on floor (8.95), second on vault (8.9) and fourth on bars (8.125) and had a 8.05 on beam for an all-around score of 34.025 and third-place finish.
