For the past two weeks, first-year coach Greg Musser has led his Seymour Lady Owls soccer team through practices.
On Saturday, he got a different view of his team when it held an intrasquad scrimmage at C.B. Hess Memorial Soccer Field. For the first couple of halves, Musser broke up the team and had the varsity offense against the varsity defense.
For the most part, he liked the results.
“There were a lot of good things we saw,” Musser said. “It was nice to actually see them out here on a field, playing a game without us stopping the scrimmages a lot and just seeing a full flow of the game. We know what we need to work on now.”
Seniors on the roster are Adrianna Bassard, Zoe Cummings, Maile Grout, Kelsey Nolting, Amy Hehman, Rachel Roberts and Lindsay Swindell.
“Offensively, we’re pretty strong. We have a good understanding of the game offensively,” Musser said. “The spacing on the varsity offensively was great. We had great balls to the outside, throwing in beautiful crosses. Finishing on the crosses can use a little work, but we saw a lot of good spacing from them.”
