Seymour native retiring from government job

Seymour native Mark Emkes plans to retire May 31 as Tennessee’s finance and administration commissioner.

Emkes, 60, has told Gov. Bill Haslam he will be leaving the administration to enjoy retirement and spend more time with his wife in her home country of Spain.

“I will always be grateful to Gov. Haslam for giving me the opportunity to serve as commissioner of finance and administration,” Emkes said in a news release.
