Soccer is one of those sports where size doesn’t matter.
Seymour High School senior Fernando Cervantes believes that is one of the main reasons he has had success playing that sport.
“I like that size doesn’t matter. I’m a small guy, yet I can take on a guy that is twice as big as me,” he said. “I love soccer because it is very unpredictable. Anything can happen. There’s no set plays. There’s no timeout. It’s just ongoing, and I really like it.”
Cervantes is a four-year varsity starter. He played center back his freshman year, and since then he has played center midfielder.
