When Alan Barradas entered Seymour High School, he decided he wanted to become involved in a sport, and he chose swimming.

He did not swim on the Seymour age-group team, so his freshman year, he said, “I was a newbie and I swam freestyles, mostly sprints. Now, I swim everything except breast.”

In most of Seymour’s swim meets this winter, Barradas has swum in the opening event, 200 medley relay, and the final event, 400 freestyle relay. He said his favorite relay is the medley.

“I swim the fly in that relay,” he said. “I like the relays because I know that I’m not the only one working (hard). It takes a lot of teamwork.”

Throughout his career, Barradas has tried different individual events.
