Seymour seventh-grader receives lifesaving transplant

Emily Hume’s prayers have been answered.

The seventh-grader at Seymour Middle School received a heart transplant early Friday morning after months of ups and downs battling a form of cardiomyopathy at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis.

Cardiomyopathy is a condition caused by a virus that weakens and can enlarge the heart.
