Seymour sophomore qualifies for state

Alyssa Goen came agonizingly close to making the state finals in the all-around competition, but she’s happy to be going in one event.

The Seymour sophomore, who was competing in Friday night’s Columbus East Regional as an individual, finished sixth on the floor with a 9.25. The top six in each event and the all-around qualified for the March 22 state finals at Ball State.

“It’s very exciting,” Goen said. “I’ve been working all season to make it to state, and I finally did. It’s a very huge accomplishment, and I’m so proud that I did it.”
