Three Seymour residents beat the odds this week not only by purchasing two winning lottery tickets with payouts of $1 million and $50,000 but by purchasing them from the same store within 48 hours.

In the world of odds, you have a better chance of being attacked by a shark, struck by lightning or killed by fireworks than winning the lottery.

Lucinda Howe walked into the Circle K on East Oak Street on Feb. 15 to buy a Moneyball Bingo scratch-off lottery ticket for her mother as she always does. Two days later, Chris Anderson visited the same store to buy a scratch-off ticket for the 50x the Money game.
