A crash early Sunday involving a car and a parked trailer owned by Seymour Police Department left a teen dead and two others injured.

Danika Collins, 17, Seymour, died from blunt force trauma to the chest, Seymour Assistant Police Chief Craig Hayes said Sunday afternoon.

She was a front-seat passenger in a car driven by Garan Terrell, 18, Brownstown. Terrell was taken to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, where he was treated for undisclosed injuries and released.

A back-seat passenger, Tanner Payton, 18, Seymour, was flown to Louisville, Ky., for treatment of severe facial injuries, Hayes said.

Payton was listed in serious condition at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, a University Hospital spokeswoman said.

Cause of the wreck remains under investigation.

“They still need to interview (Terrell and Payton),” Hayes said.
