Seymour native Kristen Campbell’s passion for helping adults earn their GED has led to her recognition as Outstanding Adult Educator of the Year by the Indiana Association for Adult and Continuing Education.

“I was very surprised,” Campbell, 37, said of receiving the award during the IAACE’s annual conference this spring. “When my husband walked in, I knew something was up.”

Campbell, who now lives in North Vernon, teaches adult education classes at Jackson County Learning Center in Seymour. The program, which assists adults of any age in obtaining their GED certification, is made available through McDowell Learning Center in Columbus.
