The race to obtain the most signatures on petitions in favor of or against three Brownstown Central Community School Corp. renovation projects totaling $24.8 million will begin Jan. 18.

That race is the result of a petition drive that obtained the signatures of 100 property owners or registered voters opposed to projects, which was certified Dec. 20 by the county clerk’s Voter Registration Office. Opponents as well as those in favor of the projects will have 29 days from when The Race begins to obtain the most signatures.

“Our goal is to have one more signature than they do,” said Carl Shake, who is leading the effort to obtain signatures in favor of the projects.
