A group of registered dieticians from Schneck Medical Center touted the versatility of a time- and money-saving cooking method during last week’s cooking demonstration at the Jackson County Fair.
Crock Pot Creations was organized and presented by the staff of the Seymour hospital’s nutrition services department. The demonstration is an event the hospital has sponsored for more than 20 years now, registered dietician Jill Whitaker said.
Whitaker said the staff was looking for a topic that had not been covered in the past and came up with the idea of doing a demonstration with the slow cooker.
And almost everyone has a slow cooker sitting in their kitchen that could probably be used a little more often, she said.
