Small-business loan fund enters third year

The small-business loan program at Human Services Inc. begins its third year this month with low-interest loans available to qualified new or expanding businesses.

The program has active loans in each of the agency’s five counties — Bartholomew, Decatur, Jackson, Johnson and Shelby — and has helped small businesses create or retain about 10 jobs in the area.

The program is funded by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, the USDA Rural Development Office and Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County.

Applications and information on the loan fund are available from Human Services Inc. at 1-800-296-8026.

Applicants’ loan proposal must be rejected by a traditional lending source to be eligible. Applicants also are expected to participate in training, provide financial data and have a business plan.
