The Trinity Lutheran and Springs Valley boys basketball teams didn’t meet during the regular season. But they got acquainted in Friday’s first semifinal game of the Class A West Washington Sectional.

Trinity held double-digit leads for most of the game. But Springs Valley fought hard in the second half and pulled out a 54-48 win to advance to tonight’s championship against Orleans (12-10), a 53-41 winner against West Washington in the other semifinal.

“There are not ever a lot of words to explain it,” Cougars coach Aaron Rudzinski said. “You think back at the game and wonder the reason why. I think our guys came out with a great game plan and executed the game plan very well.
