Around this time last year, I wrote a column about Brownstown Central football being the only fall athletic team remaining. This fall, we have the same scenario.

On Friday, the Class 3A No. 4 Braves (11-0) will play host to Charlestown (8-3) for the Class 3A Sectional 31 title. They have a chance of redeeming last year’s 62-10 sectional championship loss at home to the Pirates, and they will be going for their 10th sectional title under head coach Reed May.

In Week 2, Brownstown defeated Charlestown 40-26, thanks in large part to three turnovers by the Pirates that turned into scores for the Braves. Since then, Brownstown has scored more than 50 points in six games.
