Report cards are in for Hoosier schools, and for a few Jackson County districts, the news of improvement is good.

For others, poor grades have some administrators scratching their heads and questioning whether the state’s grading system is an accurate measure of student progress.

In general, area public schools performed worse in Indiana Department of Education’s Public Law 221 accountability rankings for the 2011-12 school year than they did the year before.

Grades were released Wednesday.
