The names of past winners of the annual Superstars competition are on a plaque in the Brownstown Central High School football locker room.
The athletes who do well in all seven aspects of the competition typically finish in the top three, and it’s usually seniors.
In this year’s competition on Friday at Blevins Memorial Stadium, however, juniors took two of the top three spots.
Junior Caleb Wischmeier won with 51 points, and senior Drew Shoemaker edged junior Jacob Wilson 65-66 for second place. There also is a team aspect of the competition where seniors draft underclassmen and they work together in the competition, and this year’s winner was M.A.G.I.C., consisting of Garrett McAdams, Filippo Lippi, Christian Lockman, Mitchell Scarlett, Jacob Brewer, Clay Hauer and John McKinney.
